Celebrity Speaker Will Ferrell is a comedian, actor, producer and writer who got his start in comedy as a member of the cast of the popular late night sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. Many may recognize him as the legendary anchorman Ron Burgundy from his popular films Anchorman and Anchorman 2, Get Hard, and as an overgrown elf trying to find his family in the Christmas classic Elf. While the list of his hit comedy films is seemingly endless, Will has also appeared in several TV shows including the HBO series Eastbound and Down starring Danny McBride and he is responsible for starting the streaming video website Funny or Die in which users can upload and vote on funny videos.
Celebrity Speaker Will has become one of the most well-known comedians in today’s popular culture and his career got its jumpstart in 1995 when Will was signed on as a member of Saturday Night Live. During his time on SNL from 1995-2002, Will was praised for his ability to impersonate many top officials and celebrities including political leaders such as George W. Bush, Chicago Cubs announcer Harry Caray, and game show host Alex Trebek. His first major motion picture roles came as Mustafa in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and when he joined fellow SNL cast member Chris Kattan to write and star in the comedy A Night at the Roxbury. As a member of the group of comedians recognized as the “Frat Pack,” his major motion picture career includes a host of successful films including Old School, Talladega Nights, Stranger Than Fiction, Step Brothers and The Campaign. In 2010 Will was an executive producer of and starred in the hit comedy The Other Guys also starring Mark Wahlberg and Eva Mendes. As a testament to Will’s incredible stage presence, he made his Broadway debut in a one-man show titled You’re Welcome America, A Final Night with George W. Bush.
On March 12, 2015, Will played all 10 positions for 10 different MLB teams in one afternoon. Through elaborate planning, numerous trades (including one that involved a washing machine), and helicopter rides to the stadiums, Will was able to complete this monumental task raising awareness for the fight against cancer. The entire journey was in honor of Bert Campaneris who was the first player to play every position in a single game back in 1965.
Off the set, each year Will hosts the Will Powered Golf Classic to benefit Cancer for College, an organization that provides college scholarships to cancer survivors. He also starred in a recent commercial for the new Dodge Durango, making an appearance as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy. He is also a partner of the First Lady’s Let’s Move campaign a recorded a hilarious PSA to promote a healthy lifestyle to kids.
