Heisman Trophy winner in 1976, Tony Dorsett graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and is considered one of the greatest running backs in college football history.

The second pick of the first round, the Dallas Cowboys drafted Tony in the 1977 NFL Draft and he was on the team thought the 1987 season. Tony was the first player to win the college football championship one year and the Super Bowl the next. With a total of 12,033 yards in Dallas, he was traded to the Denver Broncos in 1988 as the fifth round draft pick. He led the team with 703 yards and five touchdowns that year, but unfortunately sustained injuries which led him to retire in 1989.

Tony’s son, Anthony played for the University of Pittsburgh from 1996-2003 as a defensive back and made appearances with the Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders in the Super Bowl. Tony Dorsett was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the College Football Hall of Fame and was enshrined in the Texas Stadium Ring of Honor. He is ranked number 53 on The Sporting News’ list of the 100 Greatest Football Players. Tony is the only player in history to win the Heisman Trophy, the Super Bowl, the College National Championship, be enshrined in the College Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

February 9, 2015, Tony was featured in ESPN discussing his battle with CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), which is a degenerative condition that is caused by head trauma and is linked to depression and dementia. When speaking of his struggles Tony says “I’m in the fight, man. I’m not just laying around letting this overtake me.
