Olympic speaker Summer Sanders emerged as the most decorated U.S. swimmer, winning two gold medals, one silver medal and a bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Summer was able to transition from competition in the pool to working in front of the camera as a TV host.
Summer swam for Stanford University, and won six individual NCAA titles, four relay championships, back-to-back NCAA Swimmer of the Year and helped Stanford to a National Championship in 1992.
In 2005, Summer was co host with Figure Skater Scott Hamilton on FOX’s hit show, Skating with Celebrities. She used her witty personality and charm to win over the audience and helped make the show a hit. Summer Sanders also hosted FOX’s The Sports List which made its debut in July 2004. The show focused on the different aspects of sports; funny moments in sports, biggest meltdowns ever, the sexiest athlete, the dumbest plays in history and the greatest moments in sports. She also hosted Beg Borrow and Deal on ESPN in 2004 and NBA Inside Stuff on NBC from 1997-2005. She traveled around the country to give the viewers a behind the scenes look at NBA and WNBA players of the drafts and the excitement of the games throughout the season; she also was a sideline reporter for the WNBA. Summer has noted that her favorite part of working for Inside Stuff was being able to sit with the players and get firsthand accounts of what it was like to play the world’s most popular sport.
During the 2000 Olympic Games, Summer Sanders was a correspondent for the Today Show on NBC and co-hosted with Jim Lampley on the kids’ Olympic show, Scholastic at the Olympics. The 2002 Winter Olympics, she was a correspondent and hosted the syndicated show, U.S. Olympic Gold, which showed athletes in their chase towards the Olympics. Summer also has a passion for kids, her passion showed on Nickelodeon’s game show, Figure it Out. After taking some time away from the cameras, Summer went right back into the spotlight working for Good Morning America, The Rachael Ray Show and NBC’s Universal Sports Network.
