Sports speaker Russell Wilson’s road to the National Football League hasn’t followed the tradition path of most players. After three standout seasons at N.C. State University, Russell had graduated and still maintained one year of collegiate eligibility. He finished his college football career with the Wisconsin Badgers and won the starting quarterback job with the Seattle Seahawks a year later after being drafted in the 3^rd round of the NFL Draft. However, that’s not the only thing Russell was doing before he became one the NFL’s elite quarterbacks and lead his team to a 15-1 record at home in his first 2 seasons. Russell was also a standout baseball star while at N.C. State and was drafted by the Colorado Rockies after his junior year of college. Russell played several seasons in the minor leagues before committing to a career of football.

In college he was named the ACC Player of the Year in his rookie season with N.C. State and lead the Wisconsin Badgers to a Rose Bowl victory while setting a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) record for passing efficiency. He was not heralded to be a superstar in the NFL standing at just 5’11, a size disadvantage that many coaches were weary of. After winning the starting job in training camp, Russell has lead the Seahawks to 2 straight division title games and a Super Bowl berth in just his 2^nd season in the league.

Off the field Russell has been very active participating in multiple ad campaigns as well as weekly trips to visit the Seattle Children’s Hospital to meet with patients. His endorsement deals include a spot with Levi’s in their “Go Forth” campaign and other work with companies such as Nike and Alaska Airlines. Russell was also featured on the cover of ESPN and Sports Illustrated for Kids after his standout play on the field and displayed his slick style off the field in a feature story for GQ magazine.
