At the age of 20, Robert De Niro made his first appearances opposite friend, Jill Clayburgh in The Wedding Party and then played in the 1970’s film, Bloody Mama. His first popular attention came with his role in Bang Drum Slowly. This same year, he played in Mean Streets.

The next year, Robert played in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather Part II and earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role. He became the first actor to win an Academy Award speaking mostly in a foreign language. His other successful films included Taxi Driver, New York, New York, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, Goodfellas, Cape Fear, Casino, Guilty by Suspicion, and Shark Tale. Robert De Niro shot to fame after Taxi Driver, because of his famous line, “You talkin’ to me?”

Worried he had become a typecast in mob roles, Robert began increasing his role to comedic roles in; Brazil, Midnight Run, Analyze This, Meet the Parents, and Meet the Fockers—both starring Ben Stiller. His other films include: Falling in Love, Once Upon a Time in America, The Mission, Angel Heart, The Untouchables, Goodfellas, Awakenings, Heat, The Fan, Sleepers, Wag the Dog, Jackie Brown and Ronin. Starring beside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, Robert De Niro played Dwight Hansen in This Boy’s Life. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2012 comedy-drama, Silver Linings Playbook. Most recently, Robert announced he would play Enzo Ferrari in a movie to be released in 2016.

In 2011, Robert appeared in the action film Killer Elite with Clive Owen, Jason Statham, and Bradley Cooper. Also this same year, CBS picked up his crime pilot, Rookies and became President of the Jury for the 64^th Cannes Film Festival. He has directed the film A Bronx Tale, and The Good Shepherd.

Robert’s capital ventures include: co-founding the TriBeCa Productions film studio, the Tribeca Film Festival, Nobu and TriBeCa Grill—which he co-owns with Paul Wallace and Steward F. Lane, The Greenwich Hotel, and Locanda Verde.

In 2003, Robert De Niro made the announcement that he had prostate cancer, and later went on to a full recovery. He spends much time and money for the following chairites: 46664, Artists for Peace and Justice, FilmAid International, Film Foundation, HEART, Hearts of Gold, Robert F Kennedy Memorial, and STILLERSTRONG.
