Rob Lowe received his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a TV Movie/Miniseries for playing in the 1983 TV movie Thursday’s Child. His first movie debut came as his role in Schoolboy Father and Class with Andrew McCarthy, but his breakthrough performance came with he and Emilio Estevez were cast in St. Elmo’s Fire. These two were the more well known actors in the group known as the Brat Pack. His second Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor came for his role as Rory in Square Dance.

He then played Paul Barish in the film, Tommy Boy with Chris Farley. Rob is also well known for playing Sam Seaborn in The West Wing, and he was awarded an Emmy and two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actor in a Drama Series. Rob Lowe has also starred on ABC’s Brothers & Sisters as a “special guest star” for seasons 1-3 until the end of the 2009-2010 season, because he was unhappy with his lack of screen time, he announced that he would be leaving the show. Most recently, Fox announced a pilot for the comedy The Grinder starring Rob, February 2015. He was also the spokesperson for the popular DirecTV commercials, contrasting him with some less appealing “Rob Lowes.”

As a producer, Rob has produced and starred in the film Frank and Jesse, NBC series The Lyon’s Den, and the CBS series Dr. Vegas. Rob Lowe wrote and directed the short film Desert’s Edge.

Rob Lowe was the spokesperson for the 2000 Lee National Denim Day to help raise money for breast cancer research and education. His mother, grandmother and great-grandmother all suffered from breast cancer and his mother died of the disease in 2003. He is the founder of the Homeowner’s Defense Fund to help control land use planning and transparency in government. Rob Lowe is available for speaking engagements, personal appearances, and endorsements.
