Astrophysicist and celebrity speaker Neil deGrasse Tyson has been sharing his theories on the Universe with audiences around the world for the majority of his life. He frequently appears as the director of Hayden Planetarium giving his input on shows including The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, and even the game show Jeopardy!. Most recently, Tyson got the opportunity to share the Universe on a worldwide stage as the host of the primetime series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey which first aired in March 2014. In the premier episode, Tyson speaks fondly of his mentor, astronomer Carl Sagan, who took him under his wing while studying at Cornell University. Sagan was also the host of the original Cosmos series, Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, when it first aired in the 1980’s. The original series went on to win three Primetime Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award, a feat which Neil deGrasse hopes to achieve with the sequel.

Prior to Cosmos, Celebrity Speaker Neil deGrasse Tyson appeared as television host and narrator for the series Nova as well as Nova ScienceNow from 2005 through 2011. Other television appearances include guest starring on the popular series The Big Bang Theory and Stargate: Atlantis. He has also been on countless talk shows including Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Tavis Smiley, Larry King Now, The Charlie Rose Show, Inside Edition, and Fox and Friends.

Off camera, Tyson works in the American Museum of Natural History as research associate in the department of astrophysics. He is also the Frederick P. Rose Director of Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space. He has published countless books on the universe including his latest, Space Chronicles: Facing the Ultimate Frontier, which he released in 2012. Throughout his career, Neil deGrasse has received several honors including being named one of the Fifty Most Important African-Americans in Research Science, one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential persons in the world, and many more.
