Heather Armstrong is a famous blogger who is better known as ‘Dooce’—this name coming from her failure to quickly spell ‘dude’ to a former co-worker in an IM chat. Heather has written at length about her struggles with depression, entering a mental health hospital, her pregnancies, parenthood, skin cancer and her experiences with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Starting in 2004, Heather Armstrong accepted text advertisements on her blog for the first time and the next year, began to accept graphic ads. Since then, she has appeared in Suave advertisements featuring her own image and trademark. In 2009, Heather Armstrong introduced an interactive section to her website called the Dooce Community where her readers could interact with each other and could “all pool our knowledge and experiences and drunken mishaps into one highly accessible and fun place.” Dooce.com has won multiple nominations and awards from The Weblog Awards (Bloggies), which included a lifetime achievement award for Heather in 2008.
Heather and her now ex-husband run Armstrong Media, LLC, a web design and content-generation business. She contributes weekly to a HGTV blog to create innovative convergence programming for the network. Heather Armstrong is available for speaking engagements, personal appearances and public events.
