As a staple in the entertainment world, Celebrity Speaker George Takei has shared his talent with viewers for nearly five decades, starting with his 1965 debut in Star Trek. George Takei began his acting training at a young age and received both his bachelors and masters degrees in theater from UCLA. He later honed his craft at the Shakespeare Institute in England. At the time George Takei began his professional career in the 1950s, Asian characters were rare and cast in a narrow subset of roles. One of Takei’s first jobs was to be the English-dubbed voice in famous Japanese films like Godzilla Raids Again. George Takei rose to fame as Mr. Sulu in both the Star Trek television series and the first six Star Trek movies.

Since his Star Trek days, George Takei has dabbled in a multitude of endeavors, including running for City Council of Los Angeles in 1973, co-writing a science fiction novel, and publishing an autobiography, entitled “To the Stars” in 1994. In 2005, George Takei took a courageous leap by revealing his homosexuality, and married his long-time partner, Brad Altman, in 2008. For four seasons of the NBC hit series Heroes, George Takei portrayed Kaito Nakamura, a father to a Star Trek fan and time-traveller. He continues to make numerous television appearances, and appeared on Season 12 of The Celebrity Apprentice. George Takei is available for speaking engagements, infomercials, and personal appearances.
