Chef Gavin Kaysen is a celebrity chef at the peak of his culinary career and on his rise to fame. A California native, Chef Kaysen began receiving publicity for his culinary skills while working at El Bizcocho in San Diego as their Executive Chef. Chef Gavin was named Best Chef by San Diego Home & Garden Magazine, one of San Diego Magazine’s 50 people to watch, one of the Best New Chefs in 2007 by Food & Wine Magazine, and was awarded the Rising Star Chef Award from the James Beard Foundation. From there, Chef Kaysen moved to New York City where he landed the position of Chef de Cuisine at the prestigious Café Boulud restaurant, working under the critically acclaimed French chef, Daniel Boulud.

Since moving to New York City, Chef Gavin Kaysen made a name for himself outside of the kitchen at Boulud. Kaysen got his start as a television personality on the Food Network series, The Next Iron Chef, where he competed against some of the biggest names in the culinary industry, including celebrity chef, Aaron Sanchez, John Besh, Chris Cosentino, and winner of the show, Michael Symon. Chef Gavin was ultimately defeated but that would not be the last time he would see Iron Chef Michael Symon in a cooking battle. Kaysen was given his second chance in 2009 when he went head to head with Symon on the popular series, Iron Chef America in an Octopus battle; Chef Gavin beat the Iron Chef by five points. Beginning in 2014, he is now the executive chef and owner of Spoon and Stable Restaurant in Minneapolis, MN.

Celebrity Chef Gavin Kaysen has also appeared on Bravo’s series Top Chef, NBC’s Today Show, and as a contestant on Food Network’s Chopped All-Stars: Mega Chefs series. Kaysen was victorious on the first episode he competed on against celebrity chefs Chuck Hughes, Elizabeth Faulkner, and Richard Blais. His win qualified him for Chopped All-Stars: Finale where he went up against celebrity chefs Sunny Anderson, Laila Ali, and Scott Conant. Chef Gavin finished as runner up in the finale.
