As a young boy, Home and Garden Speaker Derek Stearns and his father began to build him rock solid skills of masonry. This proved to be a helpful lesson as he began a successful career in masonry. Since 1990, Derek has owned a masonry business and carves materials like concrete, brick and wall stone to construct everything and anything his clients imagine.

Along with his masonry skills, Derek Stearns is a plant guru, and knows which plants thrive in the best locations incorporating them into his outdoor stonescapes. Cousin and fellow host of DIY Network- Dean Marsico join forces together to create new and old materials to transform into affordable outdoor designs.
