David Aldridge is an esteemed and well-respected sports reporter who has spent the majority of his career covering the NBA.  David has become very recognizable on the sidelines and is often commended for his intellect and professionalism.  Aldridge began his career in his hometown of Washington D.C. as a writer for the Washington Post.  There, he was a beat writer for Washington Bullets and continued to cover them when they became the Washington Wizards, Georgetown University Basketball, and the Washington Redskins.  His most notable work during this period came covering the Washington Wizards. It was this work that eventually landed him with a position as a reporter for ESPN in 2003.  He mostly primarily covered the NBA and often appeared on their NBA programming as well as a sideline reporter for their live games.

In 2004 Aldridge decided to make the leap from ESPN to Turner Sports.  At this time he also took a columnist position with the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he remained until 2008.  With the Inquirer, Aldridge once again covered the NBA and NFL.  Sports Speaker David has appeared on TNT since 2004 and he is one of their primary sideline reporters.  Aldridge is considered one of the most knowledgeable sources in today’s basketball circles, and is a consistent contributor to NBA.com making him an expert sports speaker.  In addition he serves as the sideline reporter for the TBS Major League Baseball coverage.

Aldridge now occasionally writes for the Washington Post and resides in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.  He is currently a co-host on The Tony Kornheiser Show which airs on ESPN980 in the Washington D.C. area.  In 2002, Aldridge was chosen for the Sam Lacy Award as Journalist of the Year courtesy of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.  The award is given to the best African American Journalist in honor of Sam Lacy.
