Sports Speaker Bud Selig was the 9^th Commissioner of Baseball from 1998-2015 succeeding Rob Manfred. During his time as Commissioner, Bud Selig implemented ideas and rules that have left a positive lasting affect on the game of baseball. He played a critical role in the introduction of the Wild Card and interleague play along with the merging of the American and National Leagues.

Selig is credited with the financial resurgence of the MLB introducing the concept of revenue sharing and overseeing a 400% increase in the MLB’s revenue over his career as Commissioner.

He was well-respected and liked by most MLB players and owners. Jerome Holtzman, the MLB’s official historian from 1998-2008, considered him to be the best Commissioner in the history of baseball. Selig now sits as the Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball, a position created for him to honor the work he has done for the MLB throughout his tenure.
