Cookbook author, television personality, and award winning Celebrity Chef Speaker Bernard Guillas has been a strong force in the culinary industry for over thirty years, twenty of which he has spent as the Executive Chef of La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club in La Jolla, California. Guillas began his culinary career in his home country, France, training for such legendary chefs as Georges Paineu learning the ins and outs of cooking and fine dining before relocating to America.
Throughout his career, Celebrity Chef Speaker Guillas has earned such awards as Best Chef in San Diego by California Restaurant Association, Chef Magazine, San Diego Magazine People’s and Critic’s Choice, and San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles Magazine. In 2009, Chef Bernard Guillas published his first cookbook along with colleague and Chef de Cuisine at the Marine Room in La Jolla, Ron Oliver. Their book, entitled Flying Pans: Two Chefs, One World, follows the chefs through their travels in such countries as Brazil and Thailand, teaching readers how to use unique cooking tools, and providing exotic recipes from around the world. The cookbook has received much critical acclaim with rave reviews from some of the biggest names in the culinary world, including Gavin Kaysen, Executive Chef at Café Boulud, Celebrity Chef Mario Batali, and former Executive Chef to The White House and current Executive Chef at St. Louis Club, Pierre Chambrin. In 2014, Bernard and Oliver co-authored another book, Flying Plans: Two Chefs, One Catch.
