When asked their favorite food, most chefs would name some far out ingredient that most of us have never heard of before. Critically acclaimed Celebrity Chef Speaker Amanda Freitag would curtly reply, “I’ll have a burger.” She developed her love of food early as a child, a passion she’s never lost. Having served under celebrity chefs such as Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Alain Passard, Diane Forley, and Tom Valenti, Chef Freitag has been trained by the best in the culinary business.
In 2009 she first starred on The Hallmark Channel’s The Martha Stewart Show with quick fixes for last minute problems when making the perfect Thanksgiving meal. She came back in 2011 as host of the Made to Order portion of the show, where she discussed pizza, restaurants, and “Asian Hipster Cuisine”. She has appeared on Food Network’s Iron Chef America multiple times, from her nail-bitter of a battle against Iron Chef America’s Bobby Flay, to her second place finish in The Next Iron Chef.
In 2012 she was the sous chef for Chopped Grand Champion Madison Cowan in a special edition of Iron Chef America. She has had a reoccurring role as judge throughout the various seasons of Food Network’s hugely popular show Chopped starting in 2010 along with celebrity chefs including Geoffrey Zakarian, Ted Allen, and Aaron Sanchez. In April of 2013 she competed in the latest season of Chopped: All Stars against the other Chopped judges, including Alex Guarnaschelli, Marc Murphy, and Scott Conant. Each celebrity chef had to choose a charity to support in the competition. Chef Freitag chose the charity God’s Love We Deliver, a non-profit organization that strives “to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition.” In May 2015, her new show with Ty Pennington, American Diner Revival, debuted.
She has also made various appearances on Cooking Channel’s hit show, Unique Eats, which presents specialty dishes from restaurants across America. Celebrity Chef Speaker Amanda Freitag has worked at several high-profile restaurants in New York and is working towards opening her own restaurant.
