Celebrity Chef Alton Brown is one of the most well-known celebrity chef personalities in the world.

Working as a cinematographer, he became captivated with watching cooking shows in between shots. He found that all the cooking shows he watched, that they were very dry and uninformative; he thought he could do better.  He left the cinematographer business and moved to Vermont to be educated at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont. Here, he tapped all of his training and created Good Eats, which used his smart and witty comments and blended it with his common sense cooking. Celebrity Chef Speaker Alton Brown stars and produces the Food Network show, which aired in 1999 and after his 249th episode, he will end the show.

Alton Brown’s first book, I’m Just Here for the Food, won the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Cookbook in the Reference category, and was also a bestselling cookbook in 2002. Alton also authored books geared for the “hardware” you will need in your kitchen, and tips/advice on what’s needed in the kitchen and what’s not, what works and what doesn’t. His New York Times bestseller, I’m Just Here for More Food, hit shelves in November 2004. His fourth book, Feasting on Asphalt, documented his motorcycle ride from New Orleans to the Mississippi River. This book also became a TV mini-series on the Food Network. Following the same format of Feasting on Asphalt, the Food Network premiered Feasting on Waves where instead of riding on motorcycles, the cast traveled to the Caribbean and feasted on the local cuisine and met the people who created it.

Landing on the New York Times bestsellers list for thirteen weeks, Alton Brown’s book series on his award-winning television show, Good Eats, Good Eats: The Early Years. Alton then released his second series Good Eats 2: The Middle Year, in October 2010. This let Alton’s fans see the behind-the scenes photographs, cooking tips and recipes. His third series is set to be published in 2011. In 2007, Good Eats was acknowledged as a Peabody Award winner. Alton joined Robert Irvine, Carla Hall, Nathan Lyon, Charles Phan and P. Allen Smith to cook at the Cooking for Solutions at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. Currently, he is working with the Tennessee Aquarium’s Conservation Institute on a new long term initiative to bring awareness and participation in sustainable seafood purchases and practices. “Serve and Protect” is trying to help the pubic understand the issue of what is happening to food sources in the oceans due to over consumption and over fishing.

Celebrity Chef Speaker Alton Brown is a regular on Iron Chef America and hosts The Next Iron Chef.  In 2008 the Iron Chef America: Supreme Cuisine for Wii debuts with Alton adoring the cover. People may also know Alton from his Welch’s and Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt endorsements and Miller Lite advertisements.
