Celebrity Chef Speaker Douglas Keane is an extremely successful restaurateur, executive chef, and television personality whose culinary career is peppered with various accomplishments. After graduating with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from the Ivy League college, Cornell University, Chef Keane moved west to San Francisco where he began his culinary training, working for prestigious chefs like Gary Danko in the Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco. Ten years of training led him to open his own restaurant, Cyrus, in Healdsburg, California in 2003. Chef Keane served as executive chef at Cyrus for eight years and received impressive reviews for himself, including being named Chef of the Year by Esquire Magazine, Best New Chef by Food and Wine magazine, receiving two Michelin Stars, and the James Beard Award for Best Chef Pacific. He also received much recognition and countless awards for the restaurant, such as being named one of Gourmet Magazine’s 50 Best Restaurants in the United States, GAYOT’s Top 40 Restaurants in the U.S. and a AAA Five Diamond Restaurant for five consecutive years. With all of the success Cyrus was receiving came intense pressure on the celebrity chef and in 2012, Chef Douglas decided to close its doors and take a sabbatical. He and partner Nick Peyton plan to re-open their restaurant sometime in the future.
Celebrity Chef Speaker Douglas Keane has appeared on several television programs including Gordon Ramsay’s cooking competition series, Hell’s Kitchen in 2012 where he was asked to appear as a guest judge along with two other Michelin-starred chefs Michael Cimarusti and Anita Lo. In 2013, Chef Douglas also competed on the fifth season of the popular Bravo cooking series, Top Chef Masters. Keane will go up against other established, award winning chefs on the show, all trying to impress celebrity chef judges Gail Simmons and Curtis Stone.
