Celebrity Speaker Denzel Washington is a well-respected actor and filmmaker.

Attending Fordham University to study journalism, Denzel caught a bug—the acting bug and won a scholarship to the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, and then to the Shakespeare in the Park ensemble.

He made his debut appearances in A Carbon Copy and emerged in many off-Broadway productions and TV movies before his role in medical drama, St. Elsewhere. His first Oscar nomination came for Cry Freedom, and Denzel won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Glory. Throughout the 1990’s Denzel had roles in Mo’ Better Blues, Malcolm X, Philadelphia, Crimson Tide, Courage Under Fire, and The Hurricane. In The Hurricane, he received a Golden Globe for Best Actor. In 2001, his second Oscar came for the leading role in Training Day. Antwone Fisher was his first movie that he directed and co-starred.

Denzel’s other films include; Man on Fire, The Manchurian Candidate, Inside man, American Gangster, Remember the Titans, The Book of Eli, Unstoppable, Deja Vu, and The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. His most recent films would be Safe House, The Equalizer and Flight which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor. Denzel is currently working on two films set to release in 2017 called The Magnificent Seven and the sequel The Equalizer 2. 

Denzel and his wife, Pauletta have four children and their oldest son, John David, was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2006. Denzel has many charities that he donates his time and money towards including, Boy & Girls Clubs of America, Artists for a New South Africa, Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of America, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Elevate Hope Foundation, Farm Sanctuary, Fisher House Foundation, Hillsides, Keep A Child Alive, Luke Neuhedel Foundation, Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, Project Angel Food, and Save Africa’s Children. Denzel Washington is available for speaking engagements, endorsements, and corporate hospitality.
